RELEASE NOTES - Samsung Contact 7.1.1 These Release Notes provide important information about the Samsung Contact Release 7.1.1 server on HP-UX. These consist of a Web based client and a Java based Windows client. These fully featured clients contain e-mail and Personal information management features. The Samsung Contact Clients are available separately on a CLIENT CD. OPENMAIL UPGRADE INFORMATION ============================ This section describes how to configure Samsung Contact when updating from a previous OpenMail(R) release. If upgrading from OpenMail release 6.0 to Samsung Contact also read the OpenMail 7.0 release notes which contain important upgrade information. These can be found at http://www.openmail.com. The 7.0 OMNOTES.TXT file can be found on the SERVER CD in the OTHER directory. Customers upgrading from OpenMail release 7 to Samsung Contact should consult the Installation Guides, the remainder of this file and http://www.samsungcontact.com for the latest support information. LICENSE CHANGES --------------- Samsung Contact uses a new License system that is intended to be simpler, faster and more flexible than previous OpenMail Licensing systems. ** EXISTING OPENMAIL LICENSES ARE NOT RECOGNISED ON Samsung Contact ** ** See "KNOW PROBLEMS" if you use Virtual Licenses ** If upgrading an existing OpenMail system you must first obtain a valid Samsung Contact license FIRST. An upgrade installation cannot proceed without a valid license. New installations should obtain a license AFTER installing the software. To obtain a license, copy the program SCLICINFO from the appropriate platform directory on the SERVER CD and run it to get a Samsung Contact instance serial number. e.g. cp /mnt/cdrom/SERVER/LINUX/SCLICINFO /tmp/sclicinfo chmod +x /tmp/sclicinfo /tmp/sclicinfo Record all the output of sclicinfo. Goto http://www.samsungcontact.com/ and click on "Buying" to obtain a license. This (Release Notes) file contains a free 5 user license. See below for more details. CHANGES TO CONFIGURATION OPTIONS. --------------------------------- The default for the configuration option LD_AUTOREPLY_CHECK_ON has been changed to TRUE. This means that by default auto-replies will only be sent once to each user in any 24 hour period. To retain previous behaviour add the line LD_AUTOREPLY_CHECK_ON=FALSE to ~openmail/sys/general.cfg This configuration option can now also be set on a per-user basis. OpenMail features no longer supported in Samsung Contact. --------------------------------------------------------- omadmin. The Web admin tool is the new graphical administration tool. advmail. Text only mail readers such as pine can be used to access the Samsung Contact message store. Also the PDA web client profile could be used in the open source web browser Lynx. This profile can be modified as required. See the Web Client developers guide for more details. PC admin. The web admin tool is the new graphical administration tool. Existing OpenMail customers wishing to continue using the PC admin client should contact Samsung SDS Ltd. X.400. Samsung Contact does not support X400. Existing OpenMail customers could use an OpenMail system as an X400 gateway. HP Desk. Samsung Contact does not support HP desk. Existing OpenMail customers could use an OpenMail system as an HP desk gateway. omgui. These clients are not supported by Samsung SDS Ltd. but may still function correctly against a Samsung Contact server. KNOWN PROBLEMS ============== This section describes known problems in the operation of Samsung Contact 7.1.1 Restriction on Virtual Licensing (also known as Centralised or Distributed Licensing) ---------------------------------------------------- Virtual licensing is not supported in Samsung Contact 7.1.1. NOTE: Virtual licensing is no longer required for multiple instance or MC/Service Guard installations. If you use Virtual licensing at present contact Samsung SDS Ltd. for more information. Virtual licensing will be supported in a later release. Check www.samsungcontact.com for updates. Errors in install log if creating a new instance of an upgraded system. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- If your Samsung Contact installation was previously upgraded from OpenMail you may see errors in the install log if you create a new Samsung Contact instance.
